Areas of Interest: Music, Theater Studies & Chemistry

The study of music and chemistry are quite similar in their rigid rules and formulas. They present a stark difference from the fluidity of theater and performance studies. I can find the connections between these areas of study by experimenting, taking risks, and asking questions. When a piece of music is performed before an audience, how are the listeners physically affected? Is a singer’s vocal tone and resonance reducible to a mathematical formula? In all these disciplines the breaking of rules often results in the most intriguing outcomes which is what attracts me the most.
